| Power scenario in Jammu region | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 4: Saying that the government was endeavouring hard to upgrade power scenario in the State, the Minister State for Power and CA&PD Shabir Ahmad Khan has called upon the concerned Engineers to redouble their efforts and ensure time-bound completion of all ongoing projects so that the power scenario in the state was further improved. This was stated by the Minister while reviewing the power scenario, including daily consumption and curtailment in Jammu division at a high level meeting attended by senior functionaries of Power Development Department.
Reviewing the pace of progress of power infrastructure projects being executed in Jammu division today, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion and better maintenance of the equipments.
The Minister also inquired about the availability of transformers in the winter capital and sought details about the number of replacements made during last few months. He said that Government has allocated Rs. 5 crore for augmentation of 132/33 KV transformation from 100 MVA to 150 MVA at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal.
The Minister said that the Government has approved Rs. 200 crore for purchase of additional power to further improve power scenario in the region.The Minister also inquired about the status of installation of electronic energy meters in the Jammu division. The Minister was told that the metering process was in full swing and the rest of the unmetered areas would be metered soon.
She told that this year the power consumption in Jammu region was up by 5.4 percent during the month of June and 7.5 percent in July. The Minister directed the concerned to take preventive measures to contain damages to distribution transformers (DT) damage.
The Meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Power, Manzoor Salroo, Sectary Technical, Asgar Ali, Director Planning Power Development Department, Raiz Ahmed Bandey, Chief Engineer PDD, Mrs. Shehnaz Goni, SEs, Xens of Jammu division and other officers of PDD. |
