Revenue official, 4 others booked for fraud

Jammu, Aug 4 : Five persons, including a revenue official, were booked by Jammu and Kashmir crime branch in a case of land grabbing.
Cases of cheating, fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy were registered against Revenue officer (Patwari) Madan Lal, father-son duo Jai Karan and Ashwani Kumar, Prakash and Maggar Singh, a crime branch officer said.
The action was taken on local court order.
The complainant Leelo Devi, a widow, told the court that Lal had got registered her ancestral land in favour of Ashwani and his father by fraudulent means.
She alleged Prakash and Maggar helped Lal, Ashwini and Jai Karan in preparing the sale deed.
The court had asked Jammu Crime Branch SSP to register a case against the accused and investigate the matter.
The probe found the five persons guilty of preparing fake documents to get the sale deed executed.
Investigation of the case is in progress, the official said.
