Court awards six years RI to ultras

Jammu, Aug 4 (JNF) : Principal Sessions Judge Jammu today awarded six years rigorous imprisonment to one Abdul Rashid s/o Ghulam Ahmed r/o Sopore facing trial for involvement in terror related activities.
Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal today after hearing both the sides observed that carrying unauthorized/illegal weapons is one of the organized white collar crimes which has assumed serious proportions globally and awarded six years rigorous imprisonment to one Abdul Rashid s/o Ghulam Ahmed r/o Sopore facing trial for involvement in terror related activities.
According to the police case that on November 13, 2000 at about 10:30 PM, SHO P/S Satwari along with other officials of the police and army personnel were holding nakka at Bali Charna and spotted two persons coming from the opposite direction. When asked to the suspects tried to flee but soon they were over powered and from the personal search of Parvez Ahmed Bhat a 7.65 MM bore pistol No. G-10879, Magazine No. 6220,1015, round alive - 25 were recovered besides other items, whereas from the personal search of the other accused Abdul Rashid, one 7.65 MM bore pistol no. G-10876, magazine no. 8627, 9066 two pieces of bynet no. 97307, RDX two packets about 6 KG in weight among other items were recovered.
On the basis of this report, police register the case and after completion of investigation presented challan. The accused namely Parvez Ahmed S/o Abdul Samad died during the trial while the other accused is under trial.
Principal Sessions Judge Jammu. Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal today awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs. 10,000/- (ten thousand rupees only) under section 3/25 Arms Acts and shall also face rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and shall pay a fine of Rs 10,000/- (ten thousand rupees only) under section 7/25 Arms Acts. Court further ordered that both the sentences shall run concurrently.
