| Bhabber Brahmana Panchayat discusses flood situation | | | Early Times Report
REASI, Aug 5: To discus the situation arising out of floods in River Chenab, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Bodh Raj, Sarpanch Halqa Panchayat Bhabber Brahamana-Kundra at Bhabber Brahmana, Reasi. The meeting deliberated in detail the washing away of agricultural land due to floods in river Chenab.The participants said this is not for the first time that the farmers suffered losses due to floods. The area is under constant threat from the river Chenab. They said that MP Chowdhary Lal Singh came last year to this area and assured that he will help the people facing this grave threat and promised that he will order to construct crates on the banks of river Chenab to avoid floods but till now no action has been taken place and again the same flood problem arise this year. Further a letter regarding backward area was issued by Secretary J&K State Commission for Backward Classes NO. BCC/540, dated December, 24, 2009 to Dy Commissioner, Reasi but till date this letter is being ignored due to which the people are suffering. People also demanded that Govt. High School Kundra should be upgraded upto Secondary level so that the children belonging to poor and weaker sections of the society can avail better educate facilities at their door steps. |
