Malhotra stresses for better nourishment of young talent | SOF felicitates science contests winners | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 5: The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), New Delhi today felicitate winner students of various science contests at the second state level award Ceremony here at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Jammu. The students felicitated were those who participated in the 14th SOF National Science Olympiad, 11th SOF National Cyber Olympiad, 5th SOF International Math Olympiad, 2nd SOF International English Olympiad and Principals/Teachers of the Olympiad Exams. Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Ait Malhotra was the chief guest , while the Joint Director Information Jammu, Soujanya Sharma and founder Vice Chancellor (retd) BGSB University Rajouri, Masud Chaudhary attended as Guest of Honour and special guest, respectively. About 150 students from different schools of J&K and HP were acknowledged for their excellence in cyber, math, English and science Olympiad and were awarded prizes, medals/trophies by distinguished guest. In the award ceremony 23 Principals, 23 teachers of the award winning schools were specially acknowledged in recognition of performance of their schools and for encouragement and patronage to the cause of enhancing learning in science, math, English and technology. Scholarship for excellence in English was won by Shreya Sharma of Spring Dale English School, Kathua. Speaking on the occasion, chairman LC appreciated SOF for taking such progressive initiatives in the promotion scientific temper among the children. He said that India has a huge talent in every field which needs to be tapped and channelized well. He said the organizations like SOF have brought many talented youth on the forefront. Programme Coordinator, SOF New Delhi, B N Sharma presented the welcome address and highlighted the new initiatives of SOF. Executive representative of SOF from Delhi, Vijay Shankar Bhat, felicitated the award presentation ceremony on behalf of SOF New Delhi. The parents of students and executive members of JSSC also participated in the award ceremony. SOF launched Girl Child Scholarship scheme last year and 75 girl students were given scholarship. This year 150 girl students from economically weaker section will be given Rs.1000 each across India. In addition, SOF provides scholarship of Rs.5000 to 125 students excelling in English language. Workshops and training programme are also conducted. |
