| Northern Command's Van Mahotsav concludes | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 5: A two week long Van Mahotsav involving multifarious activities, which commenced on July 22 at Udhampur Military Sation concluded here today.
The celebrations included various events like 'Run for Van' in all units, debates, drawing competitions, lectures and Skits by children on ecological issues in various schools and all married colonies of the stn.
The twelve day long Van Mahotsav concluded at Bikram Park with a commemorative tree plantation by Lt Gen KT Parnaik, GOC-in-C Northern Command.
The Army Cdr also participated in a 2.4 Km 'Run for Van'.
The spirit of 'GO GREEN' was evident from the fact that the event was attended by a host of military and civil dignitaries, school children and families in large numbers.
The enthusiasm, interest and spirit of participation amongst all amply demonstrated the success and purpose of the event.
This season, Udhampur Military station has planned to plant 25,000 trees of various types with assistance from Social Forestry and Horticulture Deptt of J&K Govt. |
