Srinagar, Aug 5: Declaring culmination of the annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir with last rituals performed on the banks of river Lidder in Pahalgam, Mahant Deependra Giri said better track, modern night shelters and better medical facilities are badly needed keeping in view the increasing influx of pilgrims. He also expressed fulfillment having 'darshan' of Himlingam (a shape like a bell formed due to deposit of ice) after 15 years on Shravan-Purnima, which was celebrated on August 2. The self made ice Shivlingam was melting a fortnight or a month before the final darshan during the past 15 years. Mahant Giri, custodian of the 'Chhari Mubarak', silver mace of Lord Shiva, said the yatra 2012 has been culminated yesterday at Pahalgam with the last rituals 'Pujan and Visarjan', which were performed at the bank of river Lidder. A large number of sadhus and pilgrims who had come from various parts of the country joined the pujan and were later fed with 'Karri-Pakouri' and offered 'Dakshina'. Chhari-Mubarak was taken to the holy shrine on August 2 and main Pujan was performed with vedic mantras and special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. |
