early times report
Jammu, Aug 5: The infighting among the bigwigs of Jammu University (JU) is getting intense with each passing day. The latest flashpoints in the series was composition of committees for the forthcoming Convocation of the University and appointment of Incharge Librarian.
As per sources, Registrar Dr Naresh Padha is in the line of fire and has been isolated by none other than Vice Chancellor Dr Mohan Pal Singh Ishar.
Highly placed sources disclosed that declaration of various committees for the forthcoming Convocation of the University was getting delayed. The committees were finalized by the OSD to VC, Jai Kumar Sharma and Registrar has objection to the same. The Registrar had strongly objected to the arbitrary finalization of committees by the OSD, owing to which formal announcement of the same is delayed by Registrar Office," sources added.
To settle score with Prof. Padha, the OSD pushed the name of Dr Vivek Gupta for Incharge Librarian as he was close to Prof. Rajnikant, who is arch-rival of Prof. Padha. This is being considered in University circles as setback to Registrar. Even, Vice Chancellor didn't object to the name of Dr. Gupta despite the fact that he was much-much junior among the professors of the University, sources further said.
It is pertinent to mention here that previously the charge of Librarian has been handled by the senior professors. Whereas, Dr Vivek Gupta become professor only last year. Reliably, Gupta is close to Vice Chancellor as well as former was collaborator to later in a research project. At the behest of OSD, the Vice Chancellor is ignoring the Registrar.
Now, the battle has moved on to the post of Director, Academic Staff College (ASC). As per sources, the Registrar had proposed the name of Senior Professor from Department of English for the said post. But, so far the Vice Chancellor has not taken his advice. Pertinently, someone has cautioned the Vice Chancellor for not acting straight away on Prof Padha's advice.
