| Natrang honours visiting Internationally acclaimed artists to Jammu | | | early times report
Jammu, Aug 6 : Natrang honored the visiting team of Internationally acclaimed actors and technicians who mesmerized everyone with their out of the world performance 'Day of Victory' which was staged in Natrang's Sunday Theatre. All the four gems of theatre were presented 'Natrang Honor Plaques' and a shawl by the Natrang director Balwant Thakur at an exclusive function held at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. The felicitation function was followed by an interesting interaction programme with the visiting actors and their team which was attended by Internationally acclaimed Film maker Amit Dutta, noted theatre person Sanjay Kapil, senior actors like Anil Tickoo, young director Sumeet Sharma and a select number of aspiring theatre actors. In the interaction programme there were brainstorming discussions with threadbare analysis of the new theatre presentation methodology being evolved by the Tushar Pandey and his team.
Earlier Natrang Director Balwant Thakur while honoring the visiting artists said that we are honoring our selves by honoring them and expressed hope that this Generation Next practioners of modern theatre will surprise the theatre world with their new innovations and creations. Those who were honored included Tushar Pandey the director of team, Shubham-the co-actor, Ashish Nijhawan- sound designer and Rahul Rai-the light designer. Tushar Pandey -An INLAKS International Scholar, who did his two year specialization on Lecoq's pedagogy from London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) and a graduate from National School of Drama (NSD), India, has been practicing theatre since 2003. During last 5 years, he has been associated with various projects in India and UK, conducting workshops, creating and performing works from classical styles to site-specific contemporary, acrobatic and mask based works. He is the co-founder of lyrebird theatre with whom he devised, produced and performed 'SHIPS OF SAND' which premiered at prestigious EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2011 with collaborators from USA, Greece, UK, Argentina, Denmark and India. Tushar is presently devising works to develop a performance language by exploring the boundaries of physical storytelling and mask based works to create new expressions that go beyond the existing theatre forms. Tushar is a visiting faculty at national School of Drama(NSD). Shubham- the co actor is a product of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune where he specialized in Acting has many films and Internationally acclaimed theatre productions to his credit. Ashish Nijhawan who designed the sound of the play in a product of National School of Drama who after specializing in Actor wormed with National Repertory of NSD and performed in many countries outside India including China and Japan. Rahul Rai who designed is a post-graduate of Delhi University and has made a name for himself in the field of creative stage lighting. Natrang artists wished the visiting team all the good luck in their future performances which they are going to have within and outside the country.
