| Pahari speaking legislators call on CM | | | Jammu, February, 05 Legislators of Pahari speaking areas of the state called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here today and put forth demands of Pahari people which include Scheduled Tribe status to Pahari speaking people. Legislators who met Chief Minister included Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Thakur Puran Singh, Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, Mr. Mohammad Aslam Khan, Mr. Rashpal Singh, Mr. M. R. Qureshi, Mr. G. M. Jan, Mr. Kafil-ur-Rehman and Mrs. Farida Mir. Vice Chairman Pahari Board Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan and spokesperson of the board Mr. Ravinder Sharma also accompanied the deputation. Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the legislators and assured them that appropriate steps will be taken to redress the grievances of Pahari speaking people. He said that since he has taken over as Chief Minister, he translated plans for development of far-flung particularly Pahari areas into action. He said that all developmental agencies have been geared up to create rich public service infrastructure in far-flung and Pahari areas so that people of these areas are able to get best possible benefits of education, health, PHE, social welfare and other schemes. |
