| Hajji Nissar replies discussion in LC | | | Jammu, February 5
Minister for Social Welfare Hajji Nissar Ali said that 335816 beneficiaries have been covered under various pension schemes in the state under social welfare sector adding that no beneficiary would be left uncovered by the year end 2008.
The Minister was replying discussion on functioning of social welfare under his Ministry, in Legislative Council today.
Hajji Nissar said that 246013 beneficiaries are getting old age and widow pension and 89802 physically handicapped scheme. He said that under old age and widow pension schemes 61211 new beneficiaries and under physically handicapped scheme 33594 persons have been approved for grant of pension during 2006-07. He said that rate of pension is being enhanced from Rs.200 per month to Rs.325 per month for old age and widow scheme whileas under physically handicapped scheme it is being increased to Rs. 600/- per month from existing Rs.300/- per month.
The Minister said that 10455 ICDS centres were functional in the state upto year 2002 and 8317 ICDS centres have been sanctioned in the year 2002 under Prime Ministers package besides 6711 new ICDS centres have also been sanctioned.
