Militant threats' vindicate KPs stand on return: Pandit bodies | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 7: Kashmiri Pandit organisations today made it clear to the Government that the militants' threat to migrant youth appointed under PM's employment package in Valley had vindicated their stand that the time was not opportune for the return of the community to Valley. Commenting on the threat letter dashed by Jaish-e-Mohammad to migrant employees putting up at Sheikhpora quarters, Panun Kashmir said that it has vindicated the stand of PK on homeland as well and the organization will forcefully launch a movement for achievement of the goal. PK president, Dr Ajay Chrungoo at a press conference here today expressed his serious concern over the letter of the dreaded militant outfit to the Pandit community members at Sheikhpora on August 2 asking them to leave the Valley within week's time. Dr Chrungoo while commenting on the Jaish letter said ``it is matter of extreme concern for us that the security situation for the Kashmiri Hindu employees recruited as per PM's employment package has become extremely fragile and vicious. In a scenario of increasing separatist leadership and those at the helm of affairs in the Government , seem to be merely indulging in flaunting public postures to escape responsibility in case some thing untoward happens'' he added. He said the separatist leaders have already claimed that the threat of intimidation to these employees as the handiwork of Indian agencies and hence sought to insulate themselves from any culpability. This stance has made the immediate future of Kashmiri Hindu employees as pregnant with dangerous possibilities, he added. He said the Government is treating the threats as either bogus or not of any serious nature. The result is the increased attrition for the new recruits who took the risk of joining in Valley only to respond to their destitution and deprivation, he added. He said more intriguingly the Government is in a mode of abject denial about the growing and brazen expression of intolerance in the Valley. It seems Government policy is primarily to deny and underplay the growing radicalization and secessionism at the ground level in Valley. Dr Chrungoo said PK has maintained a consistent stance that the return policy adopted by the governments in the state and at the Centre is not even remotely connected with accomplishing the return of the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus. The policy only aims to give a cosmetic facelift to the ugly and regressive separatist movement in Valley, he added. He said in a situation where social milieu is becoming increasingly exclusivist and regimented, the return policy is seeking to act as a cloak of return of pluralism. The Government and separatists seem to be hand in glove in increasing this mirage, he added. He said PK is of the firm understanding that the return policy employed by the Governments in the state and at the Center is harbinger of a new genocidal destabilization for the Kashmiri Hindus and declares its resolve to apprise the whole country and the world at large about the dimensions and motivations. Same were the views of Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD) chief Rakesh Kaul who while expressing the concern over the threat letter said that the KP employees working in Valley feel totally insecure and unsafe. He demanded that elaborate security arrangements be made for the Pandits in Valley in view of the threat and the Government should take steps in at least posting the female employees outside the Valley. He also warned militant outfits and separatists that such threats will lead to serious consequences as Pandits can't tolerate this thing for long. KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri has also reiterated his demand that female employees be posted outside the Valley for time being till situation becomes fully conducive for their return. He said the letter has exposed the Government and its claims on restoration of normalcy in the Valley where the militants and separatists still rule the roost. |
