Hang Guru to save innocent lives | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 7: A day before master mind of Delhi High Court blast was killed, who according to the media report had carried out attack to pressurize judiciary for reversing its decision of death sentence to Afzal Guru, senior NC leader and MP Mehboob Beg had said, Guru won't be hanged during the tenure of Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister. Mehboob Beg, whose father Mirza Afzal Beg would carry green cloth in public rallies to instigate people for showing their preference to Pakistan, had even gone to the extent of saying that Guru couldn't be hanged because of the fragile political nature of Kashmir. Later, it was revealed that how dangerous it had become to keep this terrorist, convicted of Parliament attack. It's because of him that 10 people lost their lives in Sept 2011 High Court blast. NC leader would now have to explain in this backdrop if more deaths are needed to keep one man alive who already has taken many lives and has even attacked the fountain head of Indian democracy. Will Beg and Omar Abdullah also explain if for the sake of fragile political nature of Kashmir, many more innocent lives should be lost. It's not only Beg, even the patron of NC and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah had in the past said that Kashmir will burn if Guru is hanged. This speaks of the mindset of the party, which continues to believe that Kashmir, only Kashmir, has different set of laws and mindset from the mainstream Indian and the party has for decades had left no political opportunity to exploit this sentiment to its advantage. Ironically, by instigating this feeling while Kashmiris got more alienated from India but NC leadership got more close and got more political benefits than any other regional party in the country. The killing of Amir Kamal and chain of events clearly suggest that Guru should not only be hanged but NC leadership should be tried in court for instigating terrorism and also on amount of sedition as attack on judiciary for pressurizing it reverse its decision amounts to nothing less than attack on sovereignty and integrity of the country. |
