| House pays tributes to Thakur | | Thakur acted as bridge between Sheikh, Indira: Azad | | Jammu, February 05 Paying rich tributes to former Deputy Chief Minister and great legal luminary Mr. Devi Das Thakur on his demise, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the late leader exhibited great perfection in all the capacities in which he worked during his life. Unveiling glorious aspects of Mr. D. D. Thakur’s life, Mr. Azad said that it was Mr. Thakur who worked as bridge between Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi on various issues and significant matters relating to political, social and economic areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Participating in the obituary reference moved by Speaker, Mr. Tara Chand in Legislative Assembly today, Chief Minister said that the death of former Deputy Chief Minister is a personal loss to him. He said his family had about half a century old relations with the great leader when he was a teacher in a Middle School in Pugal. He said that it was during an inspection as Inspector of Schools, that Mr. Azad’s uncle Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad met D. D. Tahkur. He said “on finding his school’s best performance, he was offered increment by my uncle , but Mr. Thakur requested for 2 years leave in exchange of increment for studying Law, “which was granted to him and he became a lawyer of world class”. Recalling his association with Mr. D D Thakur, he said it was Mr. Thakur who introduced him with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah when the later visited Kishtwar as Chief Minister. He said that after doing law Mr. Thakur never looked behind and rouse to the level of Governor. Describing him as a man of Perfection, Mr. Azad said that his capabilities could be gauged considering the fact that he was chosen by towering personalities like Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to act as a bridge between the two. He said only a small number of people would be aware of this role of late leader. He said DD Thakur’s unique ness was that he attained perfection in all his capacities adding that he was a perfect teacher, a perfect Judge, a perfect administrator, and a perfect lawyer. Leader of opposition Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather described late Thakur as an able administrator, lawyer and intellectual. He said his capabilities got him some of the best positions in the country. He said Late Thakur would be remembered long for his perfection. He also paid tributes to thousands of innocents killed in the state during past decade or more with the hope that the probe ordered by the Chief Minister would be concluded without any pressure, and guilty would be punished. Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir paying rich tributes to Mr. Thakur recalled his long association with the departed leader and said that Thakur Ji laid erasable impression wherever he worked and made everyone acknowledge his caliber and capacities.
