8/8/2012 11:58:11 PM
SRINAGAR, Aug 8 : Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana said that Kashmir resonates with imageries of its rich past and is the cultural hub of the sub-continent because of its rich heritage, literature, craft , architecture and folk art forms and this legacy needs to be protected and preserved. He said the built heritage indicates the skill-set, talent-pool and unique aesthetics of local artists and designers thereby reflecting a tacit relationship between common people and their sense of tradition and so needs to be showcased to the world. On a visit to the Lal Ded Cultural Centre while interacting with the scholars of INTACH, Rana said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to protect, preserve, share and showcase the rich traditions of Kashmir so that it evolves as a blend of contemporary and tradition to come up to the requirement of the people of today and prepare for a tomorrow, when it becomes an epicenter of rich art, culture and heritage for the future generations. Accompanied by the Convener of the INTACH, Mohammad Saleem Beig and the J&K National Conference Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq, Rana expressed his appreciation for the work done in the restoration of Lal Ded Cultural Centre which, he said is aimed to promote awareness among the people especially youth of the state about the art and culture of not only the city but also the whole valley and beyond. "Our young generation should be accustom to our culture, ethos and traditions" said Rana. He asked the officials to conduct programs at such places for young students who can display their talent. Going through the photo-gallery, he congratulated all the freelance amateur photographers who have captured the entire mosaic of Kashmir through their lenses displaying its richness and diversity.
