Delay in major projects in J&K, retarding due development: Prof Gupta | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 8: Alleging deliberate neglect and monumental delay in the execution of several major projects in Jammu areas, the former Union Minister and MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has pointed out that adjoining Himachal Pradesh which was lagging behind only some decades back, has surpassed J&K and now is emerging as one of the developed Pradesh of the country. Addressing meetings of the activists in course of his 2-day tour of Bani-Basohli areas bordering Himachal, Prof Gupta pointed out the Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah Road Project was taken up for execution by the State as far back as early eighties but this still remains incomplete even after the expiry of about three decades although this was handed over to the Central Border Road Organis ation (BRO) during the NDA rule when he was Minister of State for Defence. Similarly, he pointed out that the bridge at river Ravi was hanging fire since eighties and a fiddling with the scheme was going on for years together. Prof Gupta also pointed out to the inter-state road project of Chamba-Bhaderwah road and expressed surprise that though this road was through in early eighties but mysteriously was closed. "This road could prove a boon for developing tourism but the ruling leaders owe an explanation that who was responsible for all mess and delay, he added. Referring to presence of large number of beauty-spots full of bounties of the nature in the entire area, Prof. Gupta said that this belt could be a big attraction for tourists but for political and other consideration is facing neglect. Prof. Gupta, regretted that whatever developmental schemes were taken up for execution and were in progress, have been left half way or being executing on a snail pace. Prof Gutpa was accompanied by five MLAs including Jagdish Raj Saploia, Durga Dass, Baldev Raj Sharma, Master Lal hand and Bharat Bhushan. Prof Gharu Ram could not accompany for health reasons. The former Pradesh General Secretary of BJP, Bhagwat Saroop also addressed the meeting of the activists at Basohli. |
