5 yrs RI to first woman OGW of HM

Jammu, Aug 8 (JNF) : Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal today awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 to first lady over ground work of Hizbul-Mujahdeen namely Jasmin Bagum w/o Ghulam Hussian r/o Sarwal Bahota, Marmat, Doda a Over Ground Worker of HM Outfit u/s 7/25 Arms Act.
According to the police case that on January 7, 2011 police received information that accused was having relations with Divisional Commander of H M outfit namely Ghulam Nabi s/o Nizam Din and accused on the direction of ISI Pakistan Intelligence Agency was working for separation of J&K State from India and to kill the personnel of police and security forces was helping the organization. Accused was also gathering information for the Organization. After arresting her one pistol alongwith two magazines and ten cartridges were recovered from underneath the ground for which she was not entitled to keep in her possession. On the basis of this report, police register the case FIR NO. 7/2011 and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the Court of law. Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal after hearing Adv Kousal Parihar appearing for the accused person and Public Prosecutor Shabir Choudhary for the state observed that A survey of media reports in newspapers based in Jammu and Kashmir for 2010 reveals that although violence levels are down, there are multiple levels at which militancy affects the state. The judiciary of the state, and elsewhere in the country, is also dealing with the fallout of militancy. The judiciary is involved in long and difficult trials of hundreds of arrested militants and OGWs. The involvement of women and children in militant activities casts a serious shadow over the future of the state. Several women, categorized as B-category militants, are married to militants. With these observations Court awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 u/s 7/25 Arms Act to accused/convict Jasmin Bagum w/o Ghulam Hussian r/o Sarwal, Bahota, Marmat, Doda.
