Are Padgaonkar, Kumar, Ansari still interlocutors? | | | ET Report jammu, Aug 8: Are Dilip Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and MM Ansari, who worked as New Delhi interlocutors for full one year from October 13, 2010 to October 12, 2011, still the interlocutors? The impression was that these New Delhi's agents and track II operatives completed the job on time and that they were asked to bind up the day they submitted their highly controversial, divisive, Kashmir-centric and one-community-centric report to the Union Home Minister. They submitted their report on October 12, 2011. Padgaonkar that day gave the people to understand that their job was over and that they would be available to the Government if it needed some clarifications. This is also the general practice. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which is headed by the Prime Minister, is still to discuss the report. However, if one goes by a report in a local English language daily and what Radha Kumar told it the other day, then it can be said that the Government of India has not relieved them and that they are still on the job. Radha told the said daily that New Delhi's "interlocutors are again coming to the Valley to 'redraft' it" (read their report). She was quoted as saying: "We will be meeting cross section of people to get feedback on our report. We would again go to people and ask them what the mistakes in the report are. We will seek suggestions from people about what we should add to our report and what issues should be put on backburner." The report also said "the three-member committee will be staying for a week in Kashmir starting from August 30. The committee will not move outside Srinagar, but will meet people at SKICC. It has been learnt from official sources that the panel had expressed willingness to travel to different parts of Valley, but Government showed its reservations on their suggestion as it is not in favour of repeating the whole exercise." Four things are evident from the report. One, Dilip & Co continues to be Valley-centric. Two, they take the people of Jammu Pradesh for granted. Three, they have no place in their scheme of things for the people of Ladakh. Four, they appear out to play some mischief in order to pander to secessionists and communal forces in the Valley. The fact that they would be there in Srinagar for a week to get feedback on their report clearly suggests that their intentions are not pious. It is for the Government of India to clear the air and tell the nation as to what is the status of Padgaonkar, Kumar and Ansari. It is a must. For, Radha has created confusion. |
