CAPD team conducts market checking, penalizes 15 violators | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 9 : To check and stabilize the prices of essential commodities during the month of Ramadan and ensuing Id-ul-Fitter, a team of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department conducted extensive market checking across Jammu city and charged rupees fifty two hundred (5200) from fifteen violators. The team headed by Deputy Director conducted surprise market checking in Janipur, Paloura, New Plot, Ustad Mohalla, Gujjar Nagar, Bathindi and Sunjwan area and challaned 15 establishments for violation of Essential Commodities Act-1975.The team inspected dhabbas, fruit, vegetable, mutton and chicken sellers. The defaulters found using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose and having not displayed the rate list besides caught overcharging, were fined to the tune of Rs.5200. The defaulters were warned that if found again indulging in overcharging/not displaying the rate list, strict action under law shall be initiated against them. |
