| `Jethmalani's credibility has slipped' | | NC swears by its `love' for people | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 9: Wary of People’s Democratic Party (PDP's) growing popularity, the National Conference (NC) hit hard at Jethmalani, who heads the Kashmir Committee.
NC spokesman, Tanvir Sadiq said the mask of credibility of Jethmalani has slipped and it is now clear that his mission is to drum up support for Mufti" NC's spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said.
Sadiq said BJP had no love for the people of Kashmir. The statement has surprised one and all in the State. It is the same NC that was accused of governance deficit and trust deficit by Government of India. Omar Abdullah was directed to go to the people.
Sadiq tried, though in vain, to make the people believe that NC loves the people. However, its anti-people policies can be gauged from the fact that it formed the notorious Special Operations Group (SOG) extended Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTA) to the State to show its `love' to the people.
The anti-people policies of the NC started the day Sher-e-Kashmir assumed office of the emergency administrator in 1947. Thousands of persons professing different political though were either externed or arrested. They were also subjected to inhuman torture.
Although there was no preventive detention law then, Sher-e-Kashmir applied the Defence of India rules to tame his opponents.
And after he assumed power in 1975, he framed the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) to crush dissent. |
