Bhalla launches Rs 18 lakh development works | 'People's participation imperative in development process' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 12 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that people's participation is imperative in the development of the state as they are the main stake holders in the process. The Minister said this while interacting with the inhabitants of Sanjay Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Ashok Nagar in Nai Basti after launching up-gradation work of lanes and drains in the area to be completed at a cost of Rs. 18 lakh. The Minister said that the Government was making all out efforts for providing better infrastructure and amenities to the people. He called upon the people to extend their cooperation and keep a watch on the implementation of schemes for better results on the ground. The Minister also directed the PHE and PDD officers to replace worn out water supply pipes and wires besides laying of water supply pipes well before the start of up-gradation work of lanes and drains. Other major projects like Peer Kho to Bahu Fort Ropeway (Gandola) would also be started soon at a cost of Rs. 47 crore , he added. Mr. Bhalla informed that Government has released Rs. 95.70 crore for construction of flyover from Bikram Chowk to Convent School including 8-lane road widening from Bikram Chowk to Satwari by ERA. Later, the people of the areas apprised the Minister about their grievances and demands which mainly include un-interrupted power supply, upgradation of lanes and drains in left out localities, provision of safe drinking water, benefits under various state and centre sponsored schemes like BPL, Pension Schemes, Widow pension Scheme, etc. Responding to their demands, the Minister assured them that all their genuine demands would be redressed at the earliest. |
