PDP emerges as credible voice of people of J&K: Mehbooba

Nowshera (Rajouri), Aug 13: President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti today said that it was matter of satisfaction that PDP, in a short span of time, has emerged as strong political force in the state as well as a credible voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She expressed satisfaction that PDP's agenda of the peace and development was now seen positively not just in Kashmir valley but in Jammu and Ladakh regions, as well where also it was welcomed as a serious statewide political force with credibility and established credentials in governance and political acumen. Addressing an impressive public meeting organised by Surinder Choudhary here this afternoon, Mufti said that after Kashmir Valley, people of Jammu and Ladakh were also treating PDP as their real voice because leadership of this party has earned credibility of people by its convictions and commitments. Highlighting achievements of the previous PDP-Congress regime, Mufti said that PDP led regime had brought complete transparency in the governance and created an atmosphere for accelerating developmental activities. She, however, regretted that present regime has derailed the process of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir. "During the last three years and half years, alienation among people has been increasing due to governance deficit and rampant corruption", she observed, adding, present regime has failed to bring transparency and accountability in governance. Mufti said that a leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who has clean public image, could curb the menace of corruption in Jammu and Kashmir. She reiterated resolve of her party to evolve institutional arrangements to curb the menace of corruption in the government and administration. Reiterating demand of her party to open Nowshera-Jhangar and Mirpur-Kotli roads, Mufti said that cross LoC trade and travel, which was result of the reconciliatory policies of PDP, needed a democratic pu "Crossing of LoC should not be confined only to divided families", she said and added that any state subject with identity card or debt card would be allowed to cross LoC. She also demanded that banking and other facilities must be provided at crossing points on LoC to facilitate cross LoC trade. Trilok Singh Bajwa, Thakur Balbir Singh, Ved Mahajan, Falail Singh, Capt Anil Gour, Rajinder Manhas, Sukhvinder Singh , Suresh Sharma, Ajeet Singh, Sub Gian Chand, Balraj, Babu Ram, Com Yashpal, Capt Puran Singh, Moti Ram, Arshad Mehbood, Ajit Singh, Dharampal Sharma, Yashpal Singh, Karan Singh, Surjeet Choudhary ,Surjeet Kumar, Capt Ramlal, Prem Lata, Ravinder Kour, Ashok Choudhary, Madan Lal, Roshan Lal and others also addressed the meeting.
