Omar timelines setting up of MSPC, GD stores | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 13 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directed Health and Medical Education Department (HMED) to put in place Medical Supplies Procurement Corporation (MSPC) and launching of Generic Drug Stores (GDS) within six months. Abdullah has fixed six months period for Health and Medical Education Department for putting in place J&K Medical Supplies Procurement Corporation (MSPC) and launching of Generic Drug Stores (GDS) in the state to achieve the twin objectives of exercising standardisation of purchase of drugs and equipment and supply of medicines to the poor on cheaper rates. The Chief Minister said that he wants the two initiatives taken by the government in place soon to ensure foolproof arrangement for procurement, testing and supply of quality equipment and drugs to health institutions and availability of medicines to the patients at lowest rates at genetic drug stores. Chairing the 5th meeting of Task Force on health sector reforms here today, the Chief Minister gave nod to launch of J&K Health Referral Transport Servie-102 to ensure easy and timely access to an ambulance by the people by dialling a single Toll Free Number 102. This will help to avail timely medicare during health emergencies and accidents and reduce chances of deaths. All the districts of Jammu and Kashmir will be covered under the scheme and out of the existing fleet of 800 basic life support ambulances, 400 ambulances will be networked to operationalize the scheme. Each ambulance will be fitted with GPS devices to monitor the positioning and travelling of the ambulance from the operational room of the service. |
