Make efforts for economic self-reliance of State: Mir

SRINAGAR, Aug 13: President, Democratic Party of Nationalist (DPN) and Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today urged the people to make all out efforts for realizing the cherished dream of self reliance in economic independence for J&K as it is pivotal for us to live with dignified life.
DPN president said this while addressing one -Day Party Convention of Beerwah Constituency of Budgam District here this afternoon. Mir said the people of the state are now recognizing their responsibilities and the time has come that we all have to work together for achieving the target. Vice President, DNP G.M Bhawan, General Secretary, Farooq Jan, senior leaders, Shazadi Simon, , Farooq Ganderbali, Muzffar Reshi, Hilal Parvaiz, Advocate Ishfaq Ahmad, Masrat Jabeen besides a number of Party workers also spoke on the occasion.Emphasizing the dire need for Self- reliance in economic independence for people of J&K, DPN president said "everyone has to contribute for the cause of the nation, adding that our target should be economic independence which must take precedence over political independence".
When we are economically dependent on someone else, we can't achieve anything. We have to become self reliant", he said.
He said the youth of the state have to play important role in all areas, May it be political or development to achieve the desired goal for welfare of the people.
He asked the party workers to aware the masses about their responsibilities for making efforts for self-reliance, adding that sincere contributions of people is the basic fundamental for reaching the target.
He said people could make their contributions in agriculture, horticulture, tourism and handicrafts in a big way on modern lines as these sectors have huge scope in strengthening the economy of the people.Referring to special status of J&K, DPN president said that our special status lies in cent per cent literacy, healthy road connectivity, better medicare facilities, provision of safe drinking water and adequate power supply to the consumers across the state, adding that the J&K should be role model state of the country.
Saying that political awareness is pivotal for bringing the governance at the door steps of the people, Mir asked the party workers to reach out to the people and aware those about their basic rights, adding that their involvement is must for good governance.
