SRTC VRS employees demands release of dues
8/13/2012 10:37:10 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 13: In protest against the non-fulfillment of its pending demands, the All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Association held a demonstration and dharna near Press Club here today.
The protest was held under the leadership of the president of the Association, Dev Raj Bali and General Secretary Surinder Singh.
The protesters strongly criticized the adamant attitude of the state government and SRTC management for not releasing their due drawn bills including leave salary, gratuity ex-gratia grant of 35 - 40% and 126 slabs of Cost Of Living Allowances (COLA) for which the bills have been prepared with effect from June 1, 2006 and were sent to Civil Secretariat for government approval.
However, due to the wrong representation of SRTC Management, the bills were returned back.
Protesting employees also demanded implementation of 6th pay commission with effect from January 1, 2006.
The VRS employees said that they are holding demonstration and dharnas for the last three years but the management is adopting an indifferent attitude towards their demands.
The protesters alleged that it is so strange to note that for the three years J&K SRTC management has grabbed Rs 22.50 crores vide J&K Govt. order No 237 -F of 2010 dated 30.08.2010 for clearance of the VRS employees dues and due drawn bill but sorry to state we have not been paid a penny till now.
They alleged that the Finance Department and J&K SRTC are in connivance with each other and VRS employees are being unduly harassed.
Protesting VRS employees appealed to the Chief Minister to probe into the scam through Vigilance so that the real culprits who had swallowed this money come to light and strict legal course of action can be initiated against them who are responsible for this.
