| Police arrested HM OGW with hawala money | | |

KISHTWAR, Aug 14:
Police have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW)of Hizbul Mujahideen and recovered hawala money worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession.
According to police sources, acting on a tip off about the transportation of hawala money by an OGW of militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, Chatroo police laid a naka near Chingham and arrested the said OGW along with Indian currency valuing Rs 3 lakh . Police identified the arrested HM OGW as Tanveer Ahmed Genoo son of Ghulam Qadir Genoo resident of Dachhan Kishtwar.
When contacted, SDPO Chatroo, Mushtaq Ahmed while confirming the arrest of the accused said that police have registered the case and set the investigation into the motion. The arrested OGW is said to be close associate of HM Supreme Commander Jahangir Saroori. Police is likely to quiz him about the whereabouts of Jahangir Saroori.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police reportedly seized a bank account of one government official posted in education department after an unaccounted Rs 10 lakh were deposited in his account.
Police sources said that the bank account of the said government employee was already under scanner and was seized soon after an amount of Rs 10 lakh was deposited in his account few days ago. The sources said that though the said government employee has not been arrested so far, but said that he was asked to show the source of money deposited in his account few days ago.
The sources said that in case the said employee fails to provide reasonable answer to police queries, the arrest of the said government employee cannot be ruled out.
In another development, NIA has summoned a local separatist leader to Delhi on 27th of August 2012 in connection with his role in transfer of hawala money. The reports said that Rs 50000 each was deposited in the two bank accounts of the family members of the separatist leader. |
