Terrorist hurl grenade at CRPF bunker | | |
KISHTWAR, Aug 14: A day before Independence Day, some unidentified terrorists hurled a grenade at CRPF bunker in crowded Gudhali Chowk market in Kishtwar, just few hundred meters away from police station Kishtwar. The unidentified militants hurled the grenade at around 3 PM when hundreds of people were busy in Eid purchasing in the ever busy market of Kishtwar district mostly dominated by the readymade garment shops. “I listened the hue and cry as people were running everywhere--- after some time I saw unexploded grenade in front of a CRPF bunker,” said an eyewitness. As soon as the news of the hurling of grenade at CRPF bunker comes to the notice of police and security agencies, they rushed to the spot and prevented the entry of people in the area. CRPF present inside the bunker also vacated the bunker to avoid any untoward incident. After reaching the spot officials of CID (CI), CID (SB) and security personal posted with SSP Kishtwar examined the unexploded grenade. The officials after examining the grenade found its as rusted one and old. The officials later lift the grenade without the help of Bomb Disposal Squad and shifted the same to police station Kishtwar. Meanwhile, MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo blamed police and security forces for creating unnecessary panic in Kishtwar District by indulging in mischievous act of terrorism. MLA Kishtwar said that he had himself caught hold of security personal when he (security personal) was placing grenade outside the CRPF bunker, however police officials refused the allegation leveled by MLA Kishtwar. Police said that the officials along with Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Abrar Ahmed Chowdhery rushed to the spot 2nd time to recreate the scene of crime. Police said that the incident took place at around 3.10 PM, while the MLA Kishtwar was at spot at around 3.45 PM. MLA Kishtwar said that he will approach the MOS Home to initiate inquiry into mysterious hurdling of grenade at CRPF bunker. MLA Kishtwar termed that the incident is an attempt to malign the image of Kishtwar and its people, beside to create panic among the people ahead of Independence Day and Eid. After unsuccessful attempt by the terrorists, Kishtwar police sounded terror alert across Kishtwar District and laid a siege on every entry and exit point leading to Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas. “In order to thwart any attempt of terror strike from anti-national elements, we have strengthened the security in Kishtwar district after today’s unsuccessful grenade blast attempt by terrorist at CRPF bunker,” Police officials in Kishtwar said. Police said that they have set the inquiry into motion to identify the person behind hurling the grenade at CRPF bunker. |
