Mufti weakened 1975 accord: Sagar | NC-PDP tussle continues | | Jammu, August 13: In yet another attack on PDP, the National Conference said Mufti Muhammad Sayed was responsible for weakening the 1975 Accord.
“Its is him, who dislodged Farooq Abdullah governments in 1984 and 1987 and then sent Jagmohan to Srinagar”, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar said adding the PDP leadership has got frustrated due to its failures.
Sagar’s statement reflects the contradiction within the party. The additional General Secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamal believes that the Accord was incomplete. “It was not signed”, he said. He supports his contention with his interaction with former Chief Minister, Syed Mir Qasim. He told him that some issues like autonomy were to be referred to the principals. But till date the principals have not met. This, according to Kamal, confirms that the Accord was incomplete. Ali Muhammad Sagar is a senior leader. His stand on 1975 Accord is totally different. He does not say the Accord was incomplete. He admits the Accord but says it has been weakened. Sagar also boasted of having convened more cabinet meetings in four years than the PDP regime held in its full term. For Sagar’ information, convening meetings in Jaspal Bhatti style is no achievement. The NC has only Panchayat Elections, PSGA, RTI Act and now the Amarnath Yatra to sell. However, the time is fast approaching when the NC will be forced to see beyond RTA and PSGA. |
