JKPCC functionaries , Cong ministers in sleepy mode…..?
Fail to issue condolence statement on deshmukh’s demise
8/15/2012 11:43:10 AM
Jammu: What could be the most pressing engagement of the leaders in state unit of Congress as also with the ministers of the party that they failed to issue a simple condolence statement on the demise of a veteran leader of their own party Vilas Rao deshmukh who passé away today in Chennai after remaining critically ill for the last over two weeks. One really wonders as none , not even the functionaries of the JKPCC deemed it important to issue a condolence statement at the official level , not to speak of holing any condolence meeting at PCC headquarters in either of the state capitals.

A pall of gloom descended the entire country after the news bout sad and untimely demise of former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilas Rao deshmukh came in this afternoon, with entire political spectrum condoling and mourning the passing away of the veteran leader as a great loss to the whole nation , given the rich an meaningful contribution he has made during his political career , particularly in the state of Maharashtra. Senior leaders of all the parties cutting across party lines came in promptly to express their shock and grief over the demise of Vilas Rao deshmukh , no matter verbally soon after both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned. Their expressions both in tenor an language use looked real, with no formal or ritualistic statements normally given by the politicians.

Back home, while the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as well as the Governor NN Vohra issued separate condolence statements over demise of the tall Congress leader, who was at present a Union minister , till late in the evening there was no statement, whatsoever from any quarter of the Congress in the state. Some of the ministers were busy with their own schedule assignments in the winter capital, as unfolded by the press notes of Information department.

However, none of them either at Jammu or in Srinagar issue any condolence statement for formality sake over this tragic loss in their party. The functionaries of JKPCC in Jammu who are otherwise so prompt in ‘sycophantic activities’ apparently to appease party high command , chose to ignore on this , probably not giving it any importance as the leader had no connection with the state . The fact however remains these functionaries normally remain in ‘sleepy mode’ even on occasions when the leaders of entire country as also their own party stir up their activities as warranted under the given situation.
