| Peoples' Forum condemns CM's statement on AFSPA | | | SALIL RAINA
POONCH, Aug 18: Condemning the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the eve of Independence Day that AFSPA will be removed during his tenure, Peoples' Forum, Poonch today said that CM is creating confusion over AFSPA.
In a press statement issued here today, President of the Forum, senior leader and Advocate Sanjay Raina lashed out at Omar for giving confused statements about removal of AFSPA.
He said that, "When intelligence agencies are giving an alarming signal day in and day out about the presence of militants on launching pads across the border as they want to disturb peace in the J&K state, so such statements from Chief Minister lessens the morale of security forces who are doing their duty under tough conditions to protect the sovereignty of our country" adding that when top Army brass and security agencies are against the removal of AFSPA, then there should be no reason why CM should make such statement, rather he should desist from making false statements just to please his vote bank and instead should concentrate on developmental front as state is going through a bad patch as far as development is concerned. |
