| BGSBU students suffer as varsity ill-equipped to cater sports needs | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Aug 18: Even as Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in Rajouri was established ten years back, the sports infrastructure and other facilities are still in limbo in the varsity. Ironically, the BGSBU authorities have failed miserably in developing a state of the art sports facility on campus which is one of the basic requirements in any higher education institution. Even assurances by the Chancellor of the University and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have not improved the scenario of sports infrastructure in the varsity. In his recent visit to the University, CM Omar Abdullah while answering one of the questions of scribes said that we have discussed the lack of sports infrastructure in University and very soon steps will be taken in this regard adding that we are well aware of this problem.
If sources are to be believed then it is indeed shocking that there is no proper playground on University campus while a small play ground which was developed in the early stages has also been consumed to carry out construction work.
Sources further revealed that indoor sports facility is also lacking in BGSBU and some of the talented players of different sports who are either students or teachers have no exposure to hone their skills.
Sources said that in BGSBU trend of taking part in sports and co-curricular activities and organizing them is also on a lower side which is being attributed to the lack of infrastructure for the same. |
