Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 18: The workers of the Dogra Front and Shiv Sena took out a protest march in old city of Jammu under the leadership of state President Ashok Gupta and burnt the effigies of Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for criticizing the order issued by the Supreme Court of India for conversion of Amarnath Yatra track into permanent road which could facilitate the yatris and help in saving the precious lives of people next year when the holy pilgrimage begins. Gupta demanded Mirwaiz Farooq should tender unconditional apology to the people of J&K for making such statements.
"Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's statement reflects double standards for human lives…..on one hand he sheds crocodile tears for hundreds of people who died last year in Kashmir and at the same time he is least bothered for the death of 117 yatries who died during the pilgrimage…", the Shiv Sena chief said while addressing the protestors.
He further said Supreme Court has rightly issued notice to State as well as Centre Government and formulated a committee to suggest the measures to reduce the casualties during the holy pilgrimage. "Mirwaiz Umar has said that if a road is constructed it would cause damage to the environment and nature around. This statement is shameful, condemnable and has no logic," said Ashok Gupta.
Ashok Gupta has asked the State Government to arrest Moulvi Umar Farooq, who he said, wanted to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere across the State in the same way as few leaders did in 2008 by making irresponsible and illogical statements which saw the entire state in flames . The Shiv Sena leader asked the Government they should not allow such statements so that history doesn't repeat in an unsavory manner once again. He further stated that a number of roads were constructed for the welfare of the public like Mughal Road, road connecting Drass to Gurez, Road leading to revered Baba Reshi Shrine enroute Gulmarg, Aishmuqam shrine road at Pahalgam. Besides, so many hydraulic projects were made under construction or already made. When these projects are allowed without any hue and cry why a huge uproar and outcry over so called environmental imbalances is made by the politicians in Kashmir for only Amarnath Yatra, he questioned.
Gupta appealed to all the political parties and individuals that they should be sensitive over the death of more than 117 yatries this year and last previous year also as it reflects casual approach of the State Government which will not be tolerated.
