'SASB must take non Govt representatives on board for review panels' | Political statements on Amarnath Yatra a dangerous trend : VHP | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 18: In response to the stiff opposition expressed by NC and Hurriyat Conference to the directions of the Supreme Court for augmenting facilities for pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra, the state unit of VHP, which has remained on the forefront of cause of the holy pilgrimage, has warned that any consistent move on the political level aimed at scuttling the proposals or demoralizing the pilgrims would be resisted and not allowed to fructify. The VHP has called upon SASB and State Government to rein in such elements and leaders who are again trying to vitiate atmosphere in the name of holy pilgrimage. "The recent statements emanating from different political quarters have nothing new in substance... the entire political elite in Kashmir have a common agenda and same stance over the issue and their motive is to get the tenure of Yatra curtailed and allow a very less number of pilgrims...", said state unit president of VHP Dr Rama Kant Dubey. "The utterings on one or the other pretext of saving environment are just excuses they seek to find at regular intervals... However we will not allow them to succeed in their intensions", Dr Dubey said. If such resistance continues at the political front, we too along with other bodies would be forced to register protest and oppose with equal tenor, he said, adding that "this is a dangerous trend and VHP will arrest it. We can also follow the path of struggle for a cause for the benefit and facilities of pilgrims." The VHP leader was also critical of the functioning of SASB in not taking the views of Non Government Organizations and their representatives on board while convening review meetings for smooth Yatra arrangements. "After culmination of Yatra this year the SASB convened the again for taking a review and have suggestions for improvement and betterment of pilgrimage next year... this is a good precedence to have preparedness in advance but unfortunately most of the members in the Review Committee were Government servants... how can they give any suggestions which is different from the stand and views of the political party at the helm in ruling regime... the VHP leader questioned. We have always suggested that SASB must take those representatives on board which are from different non Government Organizations and have the experience of things needed for smooth conduct of Yatra... but this has been ignored for apparent reasons, he observed. |
