Demands delimitation of constituencies

Early Times Report
Jammu , Aug 19 : Demanding fresh delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies of the State to ensure fair representation to each region of the state and measures for permanent rehabilitation of the migrants, the former union minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has refuted the claims of the National Conference, Congress and their allies that they have been extending equal treatment to all the regions of the State and their approach and actions were always guided by secularism.
Prof. Gupta questioned that they should explain that why an embargo has been put that there would be no fresh delimitation till 2026, and the Congress must tell the people that why they have not moved a Bill to ensure fair delimitation even after making this promise in their Election Manifesto's of 2002 and also in 2008. He also sought an explanation that how the number of electorates of Jammu region have decreased by about 5 lacs during the past years and increased those of the valley, in addition to manipulations in the Census figures, so much so about three times increase in the population of certain areas of the valley and no such increase in the population of Jammu areas during the past over three decades although large scale migration of families from the Valley and their staying in Jammu.
Prof. Gupta also questioned that if they were really secular then why there has been exodus of minorities especially those of Kashmiri Pandits. And they also owe an explanation that why they have failed to get rehabilitated these migrants back to valley of Kashmir.
He alleged that their claims of being fair to all the regions and also being secular hardly stand any test on the ground realities. Mere loud claims and repeated assertions cannot cover up their wrongs and injustices.
