Andrabi for settling Muslims of Assam, Myanmar in Kashmir leadership | Spreading Hate Terror | | Neha Jammu, Aug 19: Assam has been in turmoil for more than 30 days now. It has been witnessing violent clashes between the original inhabitants of Assam - Bodos - and Muslims (read illegal immigrants from Bangladesh). The ongoing conflict between the Bodos and the Muslims has already left more than 80 persons dead and displaced more than 4 lakh people, Bodos and Muslims included. The neighbouring Myanmar, once called Burma, has also witnessed clashes with the Muslims. A number of Muslims and others in Myanmar have also lost their lives. The conflict in Myanmar with Muslims has also caused some displacement of the Muslim population. The developments in Assam and Myanmar have adversely impacted the people of north-eastern States across the country, more particularly in States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and to an extent Gujarat. Convinced that there is a threat to their life and limb, over 30,000 people of the north-eastern States, including Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Manipur, have left Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Ahmedabad and so on, for their native towns and villages. Some of them were studying and some of them were working in different establishments in these cities. The left over are being persuaded by the authorities in New Delhi and in the respective States not to leave and stay put, as there is no substance in the rumours being spread by anti-social elements as well as Pakistan. The entire Parliament and all the State Governments are one against those who are spreading rumours to frighten the people of north-eastern States inhabiting different part of the country with a view to disturbing the country's social equilibrium and causing communal riots. But the appeals of the authorities have not really restored the confidence among the people of north-eastern States still living in different parts of the country and the result has been that they continue to leave for their native towns and villages. The situation in the country is indeed very alarming, nay dangerous. Anything can happen anytime. In fact, what happened at the Azad Maidan, Mumbai, on August 11, including the desecration of Amar Jawan Memorial, is an indication of the shape things likely to take in the days to come. That's the reason the authorities are feeling alarmed and deeply concerned. One can only hope and pray that things would improve and that New Delhi and the Government of Assam will identify and deport the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to their country taking into consideration the fact that the struggle in Assam is between the Indians including Hindus and Muslims, and foreigner Bangladeshis who have not only changed the region's demography but also grabbed and occupied Indian land and resources and become part of the establishment and the law-making bodies in the States like Assam. It is also hoped that political parties like the Congress will not use the developments in Assam for their vote-bank politics. Time has come for the wholesale deportation of illegal Bangladesh immigrants. The developments in Assam and Myanmar have also impacted sections of Kashmiri leadership. NC leader and MP Mehboob Beg has expressed shock over the developments in Assam and Myanmar and held the authorities responsible for the prevailing situation in Assam. He has virtually identified himself with those who are giving a communal colour to the developments in Assam or who are propagating that the Muslims in Assam are being targettted by the non-Muslims. He expressed these views in the Lok Sabha two days Ago while participating in a debate on Assam and migration of people of north-eastern States from cities line Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Nasik. However, it was Aasiya Andrabi, president of Dukhtaran-e-Milat, a pro-Pakistan separate outfit, who crossed all the limits and said "let us bring Muslims of Assam and Myanmar to Kashmir if they are not safe at their places". "Let them (Muslims of Assam and Myanmar) come to Kashmir. We will open our homes for them…The Muslim world is watching the massacre of innocent Muslims in Assam and Myanmar as mute spectator. The rulers of these countries have become stooges of the West," she on Friday said while reflecting on the developments in Assam and Myanmar. It is clear that the fanatics in Kashmir are out to exploit the Assam developments and further vitiate the atmosphere in the already highly hostile Valley. New Delhi needs to be extra cautious. For, it appears, the anti-India forces have hatched a big conspiracy against this country. What has been happening in India these days doesn't augur well for the unity and integrity of India. |
