720 Traffic violators booked: Rs. 52000 fine recovered in one day

Srinagar, February 06
Traffic Police in a special drive to curb traffic violations in traffic department has intensified its drive by booking 720 traffic violators in a single day realizing Rs.52000/- as fine. The drive was specifically concentrated on Auto Rickshaws plying without fare meters and overloading in passenger vehicles. About 441 Auto Rickshaws were booked under the provision of MV Act for plying without working fare meters and 65 passenger vehicles were challaned for overloading /roof topping. Besides, 32 two wheelers were booked for playing without head gears, 27 vehicles for plying without wearing safety belts, 20 drivers for playing without valid driving licenses 38 vehicles for wrong parking 23 for dangerous driving/over speeding, 12 for without possessing PUCC and 30 vehicles were also seized on spot.
Vehicle operators have been asked to possess relevant documents and strictly adhere to the provisions of law as enshrined in the MV Act and Hon’ble court directions to avoid stringent action against them.
