SBWC celebrates Eid with Muslim fraternity | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 20: Saryara Biridari Welfare Committee (SBWC) celebrated Eid with the members of Muslim Community to mark the historical brotherhood of Jammu region. Prominent members of SBWC led by its president, Jagdev Raj Dalotra alongwith Harbans Lal Chalotra, Puran Chand, Deevan Chand , Nand Lal, Mohan Lal , Sat Paul and Lekh Raj visited the houses of Nazir Ahmed a prominent citizen of the area where other members of Muslim fraternity was also presented. The SAWB members greeted them with sweets and hugs on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Earlier, large congregations of Muslims were seen at Sahi Masjid , Bahu-Fort and other adjoining masques to offer prayers. "It was an occasion to pray to Allah and promote the message of universal brotherhood and removal of human suffering" a Muslim cleric here told on the occasion. In several places Muslim families invited their Hindu neighbours to join the community feast. Eid celebrated on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal marks the end of the period of fasting during the holy month of Ramzan. Eid is an Arabic word meaning festivity while Fitr means charity. |
