| PCC celebrates 68th Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: The 68th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi Ji was celebrated by the Congress party through out the state by organizing several functions. The main function was held by the PCC at the Congress HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu. The function was presided over by the Senior Vice President of PCC & Ex-MP Pt. Dharam Pal Sharma and attended by senior leaders of PCC. DCC Jammu and frontal organizations of the party.
The speakers recalled the contributions of the Late Rajiv Gandhi and asked party men to follow his ideals.
The speakers remembered his great contributions in bringing Panchayat Raj system in the Country, lowering the voting age from 21 years to 18 years to ensure that young voters participate in the electoral systems and determine the future of the Country. His vision to make the Country leader in information technology sector in 21st century which the country has achieved.
The speakers further demanded full empowerment of Panchayats on the pattern of 73rd & 74th amendments of the Constitution ensuring due representation to women & other classes of people at all levels in these institutions of democracy.
