KISHTWAR, Aug 20: Despite heavy security cover, some anti national elements in Kishtwar managed to hoist Pakistani flag in ever busy Malik Market here today.
The Pakistani National flag was hoisted on an overhead foot bridge which was removed by the police after it was brought to the notice of higher officials that a flag of the neighbouring country was observed by some people.
In the meantime, the local media persons rushed to the spot after they got the information that a Pakistani flag was noticed.
As soon as media team arrived at the spot, senior police officials led by Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Abrar Ahmed Chowdhary also reached the place and removed the Pakistani flag from the foot bridge.
The lack of intelligence and failure to keep check on anti national elements can be judged from the fact that the foot bridge is situated just 200 meters away from the Kishtwar Eidgah and the area was on high security alert keeping in view of Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz where more than 40000 people from different parts of Kishtwar District gathered this morning to offer Eid Namaz for which District administration and police has made special security arrangements.
Peace loving people of Kishtwar district termed hoisting of Pakistani flag in Kishtwar that too in high security zone as a major security lapse on part of different agencies working in Kishtwar District.
Meanwhile several people after offering Eid Nimaz at historic Chowghan ground Kishtwar held a traditional procession march towards the shrine of Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed ud-Din Baghdadi (RTA) where after offering the special prayers and hoisting of Islamic flag, the annual Eid function came to an end.
Meanwhile minority community alleged district administration for its utter failure in preventing such elements to act again and again. They further alleged that this is not the first incident when some miscreants belonging to majority community have dared so knowing that no action will be taken as granted from the past such incidents.
However Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) issuing handout has expressed its deep anguish and concern over the hoisting of Pakistani flag in the main market of Kishtwar town today.
Expressing serious concerns over the incident, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Kishtwar unit and State Secretary Sunul Sharma warned the Distt administration of dire consequences if action is not taken against all the anti national elements who want to disturb the peace and harmony. Sharma said that such incidents will not be tolerated at any cost.
Criticizing the Distt administration he said that while some people are hell bent for trouble in Kishtwar with the acts like this, the Distt administration has totally failed to curb such incidents of flag hoisting and provocative sloganeering.
Taking strong exception to a highly irresponsible and provocative slogans in Kishtwar town today, BJP State Secretary Sunil Sharma alleged the District Police and civil administration to allowing the miscreants to an act of sedition and a deliberate attempt to spread communal hatred, this also raises a serious question mark on the working and intentions of the District administration which has repeatedly failed to curb such anti national elements.
He further accused the ruling parties, National Conference and Congress, of playing a dangerous game of appeasement of separatists and militants in the hope of buying peace with communal elements to continue in power and thus warned that this limited approach of ruler coalition invariably shall end up consuming the ruler itself.
