Jammu district wins U-14, U-17 titles | Subroto Mukerjee Cup Football | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 21: Jammu district clinched both under-14 and under-17 finals to qualify for the state level competition for Subroto Mukerjee Cup Football Tournament. This inter-district divisional level meet was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports at GGM Science College ground, here today. Now, in both the age groups, Jammu district shall take on their counterparts form Kashmir Division in the state level meet to be held at Srinagar. Earlier, in the under-14 divisional final, Jammu outplayed district Udhampur by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Sahil. Similarly, in under-17 category final, Jammu trounced district Rajouri by three goals to nil thereby making it a one-sided contest. Adil Rishi, Vijay Singh and Ramanuj Mahajan scored a goal each from winners Jammu district. Today's matches were officiated by a penal of experts including Bharat Bhushan Khajuria, Mohinder Singh, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Rohit and Kushey Kumar. In both the age groups, three districts each came forward to compete for the top honours in this divisional level meet. The winning teams were encouraged by the Deputy Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ashok Kumar for their enthusiasm. Among others present were Pushpa Sharma, Manorma Sharma, Sarita Padha (all ZEPOs), Jaswant Singh, Rakesh Kakkar and Rattan Lal. |
