PYC reiterates demand to empower Panchayats | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 21: Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) campaign for the implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments of the constitution in J&K Panchayati Raj Act 1989 from Kathua, Udhampur, Doda Lok Sabha Constituency reached Reasi today. As already announced to start the agitation in support to implement the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution in the Jammu & Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act,1989 to empowered the Panchayats at gross root level, youth congress activists submitted memorandum to DC Reasi Nirmal Sharma to further submit it to the Chief Minister. The function was organized at Reasi Assembly Constituency under the chairman ship of Amit Sharma Assembly president Reasi in which Youth Congress activists including Sarpanches and panches participated. In the memorandum, the youth congress leadership including Pankaj Basotra Lok Sabha President Youth Congress from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, asked the government of Jammu & Kashmir to give constitutional and democratic rights to the elected representatives at Panchayat level by implementing the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Constitution of India in the J&K Panchayat Raj Act, 1989. While submitting the memorandum, Pankaj Basotra said that the till the implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendments in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act, the Youth Congress will continue its agitational path. |
