Court denies bail to husband, father-in-law of deceased | Dowry death case | | early times report Jammu, Aug 22 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal rejected the bail application of Ramesh Chander and his son Deepak Choudhary R/o Jeevan Nagar Jammu involved in Dowry Death case. According to police case the father of the deceased Renu Bala lodged a written report to the police stating therein that he had solemnized the marriage of his daughter (deceased) with Deepak Choudhary on November 4, 2011 but after sometime the parents (in-laws) started demanding more dowry like scooter, cash, etc. and in consequence started torturing her. On June 15, 2012, he received a message from GMC Jammu that his daughter is dead. The complainant along with other relatives reached at GMC Jammu but they were not allowed to see the dead body. The dead body was brought to the home of in-laws. They were apprised of cremation of deceased at about 6.00 PM but instead of 6.00 PM, she was cremated at 4.00 PM at cremation ground Shastri Nagar. On the basis of this report, the police registered the case under FIR No. 131/2012 U/Ss 306/498-A RPC. While rejecting the bail application of father-in-law and husband of deceased Renu Bala, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal observed that awoman is not a toy to be played with, to be thrown away at one's whims and fancies and treated as inferior to any other. It inherently asks for husbands to treat their wives well and not misbehave or demand unjustly which in a way sends forth a message that a woman is a commodity for sale. With these observations Court rejected the bail application of Ramesh Chander and his son Deepak Choudhary. |
