Jammu zone sports meet gets underway

JAMMU, Aug 22: Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), the inter-school (under-19) sports meet of Jammu zone got underway at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, here today.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Principal of host school, Sarita Anand. Speaking to the participants, he stressed the need for promoting the games and sports in a big way so as to achieve desired results at the national and international level.
The competition is being organised under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Jammu, Ram Kumar Sharma

Volleyball: Government Higher Secondary School Paloura clinched the volleyball title beating Government Higher Secondary School Muthi 2-1 in the final. Earlier, in the preliminary round, KC Public School 2-1; Government Higher Secondary School Paloura bt SRML 2-0; Government Higher Secondary School Muthi bt KC International School 2-1.
KABADDI: Government Higher Secondary School Muthi bagged the kabaddi title outplaying Government SRML Higher Secondary School by 18 points in the final. Earlier, in the semifinals, Government Higher Secondary School Muthi bt Government Higher Secondary School Dansal by 15 points; Government SRML bt Government Higher Secondary School Paloura by 10 points .
WRESTLING: Results: 40 kg: Radhay Sharma (SRML), Ist. 45 kg: Mohd Javed (Government HSS Dansal), Ist. 55 kg: Vishal Raj (HS Muthi), Ist. 60 kg: Raman Saini (SRML), Ist. 66 kg: Samsher Khan (SRML), Ist. 74 kg: Bahadur Khan (Tiny Tots), Ist. 84 kg: Mohd Akram (Tiny Tots), Ist. 96 kg: Ishaq Ahmed (Tiny Tots), Ist. Plus 96: Sadiq Hussain (Government HS Sunjwan), Ist.
KHO-KHO: Government Higher Secondary School Nowabad emerged winner beating Government Higher Secondary School Paloura 10-05. Earlier, in the semifinals, Government Higher Secondary Nowabad beat Higher Secondary School Muthi 10-06 and Higher Secondary Paloura trounced Higher Secondary Jhajjar Kotli 13-06.
