PSA lambasts JU for delay in hostel allotment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 23: Progressive Students Association (PSA) held a protest demonstration near fountain in Jammu University campus against the shortage of hostel and delay in the allotment of hostel. Nearly 40 students participated in the protest. The angry students alleged that they had presented a memorandum to Vice Chancellor (VC) regarding the allotment of the hostels on August 8 for which the VC had assured to provide hostel facility, but all the assurances have remained hollow. The students alleged that the forms distribution has not begun for the boys' hostel so it will further take nearly one and a half month. The protesters said that for six month of semester, the University is taking about three months to allot a hostel which is really a shame for the University Administration. Addressing the media, president of PSA unit of JU Manik said that all the needy students who are from far flung areas and are desperate for an accommodation should be provided hostel facility so that they could pursue their studies. The university administration should also construct new hostels as accommodating all the students in the present infrastructure would be a difficult task and since the creation of the new structure for the time being rented accommodation should be provided to them. |
