Will Davender seek judicial intervention? | Rana v/s Sajjad | | Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 23: It seems Chief Minister's Advisor, Davender Rana has given up the idea of filing a case against People’s Conference chairman, Sajjad Gani Lone. Angered by Sajjad's statement, Rana had threatened legal action against him. However, the Jammu based business tycoon has decided not to go to the court for `political' reasons. Sajjad issued a hard hitting statement last month against Rana when some cable operators called on him and accused Davender of exploiting them. Sajjad accused Rana of land grabbing taking lucrative contracts of trucking at the cost of other businessmen of Jammu. Reacting to Rana's warning, Sajjad also tried to get some political mileage. He said Kashmiris were exploited, divided and made inimical to each other's sentiments and rights by engineering the rise of Ikhwaanis, SOG and Task Force in the past and there are active efforts in place for creating new-age Ikhwaanis reminiscent of the past policy by pressurizing a handful of cable operators to issue a window-dressed statement against their own compatriots and colleagues. Rana's design to divide the harassed and exploited cable operators of Kashmir by dint of harassment and bullying has been exposed and won't be allowed to take roots. Sajjad's politically charged statement did not do him any good. People, by and large, continue to ignore him. Rana, most probably, has been told not to seek judicial intervention. Political experts believe Sajjad would have availed the opportunity to project himself as saviour of Kashmiris, something which National Conference cannot afford at present. It has already lost some ground to People’s Democratic Party and is on the back foot. |
