Ladakhis to intensify struggle for inclusion of Bhoti into 8th schedule | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: The Ladakhis have decided to intensify the struggle for inclusion of Bhoti language into 8th schedule of Indian constitution. According to sources, Ladakhis have decided to campaign in all those parts of India where Bhoti language is used by the people. The language is used in the Himalayan region and about 30 lakh people spread across the six States of India including Ladakh region and Paddar in J&K, Himalayan Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh. Strongly advocating for inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of Constitution the Ladakhis say Bhoti is linked to ancient culture of India and its revival is must for enriching the ancient culture of the country. They say that Bhoti language has a unique and rich cultural heritage with its own language, script, grammar, art, literature and religion which needs to be preserved and promoted. They say the traditional culture of this area is very ancient and rich morally, spiritually and socially. The Bhoti language originated in the 7th century and Thosmi Sambhota is considered to be the founder of third language who laid down its strong foundation by constructing its grammar based on Devnagiri script. The grammar of Bhoti language was constructed by Thosmi Sambhota consisting of four vowels and 30 consonants which is a complete code in itself. Thosmi Sambhota has written many books on the grammar of Bhoti language which includes 'Sumehupa' and 'Takjug'. Thereafter many scholars added to the vault of Bhoti language by scripting marvel pieces of literature. To intensify the struggle Himalayan Sambhota culture and welfare association Zanaskar in collaboration with the Zanaskar Buddhist Association and Zanaskar Gompa Association organized a public rally in Padum Zanaskar emphasizing on inclusion of Bhoti language bears significant importance to preserve and promote this rich ancient heritage of the people of Himalaya in particular and the people of India in general. The Ladakhis are of the opinion that the language has unique and rich cultural heritage. They said unfortunately the rich cultural heritage of India is being neglected putting it into realm of extinction. The Ladakhis who held a rally recently said that they will intensify the agitation for preserving the ancient cultural heritage of India. |
