CDPA expresses gratitude to Cong for raising Refugees' issue

JAMMU, Aug 25: Expressing gratitude to the delegation of Pradesh Congress Committee for taking up the issue of Refugees, the Chhamb Displaced Persons of 1965-1971 Association (CDPA) said today the initiative of PCC President Saif-ud-Din Soz and others is praiseworthy.
Addressing a press conference, President Chhamb Displaced Persons Association of 1965 and 1971 SR Nagial thanked and appreciated the initiative taken by the President PCC Prof. Saif -ud-Din Soz , Madan Lal Sharma ( MP), Ch. Lal Singh (MP) , Raman Bhalla, Minister for Revenue , Relief & Rehabilitation, Sham Lal Sharma, Health Minister, R.S. Chib Minister for Medical Education & Sports, Ravinder Sharma (MLC), Manjeet Singh Sr. Congress Leader & former Minister who pleaded the case of Refugees with Union Government.
Nagial said that the Congress group presented the memorandum of pending demands and discussed the problems of Refugees with the Prime Minister, Home Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
The delegation also took up the matter of one time settlement of all categories of Refugees and displaced persons of Chhamb, he informed.
Nagial said that he had presented the memorandum of demands on August 20 through Madan Lal Sharma (MP) & the other members of delegation for effectively taking up the matter with the Prime Minister which includes enhancement of rate per Kanal for payment of cash compensation in lieu of deficiency of allotment unit of land to the displaced persons of 1971, sanction of cash compensation for land deficiency in their alloted units of land to the displaced families, Quota for the wards of Chhamb displaced persons in schools and professional colleges on the pattern Kashmiri Pandit migrants, Allotments of Residential plots to 27 camps displaced families of 1971, Release of cash compensation in favour of Chhamb displaced persons whose land has come under BSF or Army acquisition on the border villages besides other demands.
