| Commercial Tax class IV organize protest march, demand regularization | | | JAMMU FEB-06 The striking employees of Excise and Commercial Tax today took out a protest march from Panama Chowk to Indira Chowk to focus the attention of the government towards their long pending demand. The protesting employees are demanding regularization of their services claiming that they have been working in the department for the last about a decade. In a handout the employees’ union said that the previous government had appointed the protesting employees on the same pattern and analogy as was adopted in other recruitments made in other government departments. While their counterparts in other departments have been regularized and given the other service benefits, the class IV employees appointed in the Excise Department have been left out and instead of regularizing these, the government has decided to fill up their posts with fresh appointments, the hand out added. The striking employees, led by their President, Adil Rashid have urged the government to stop fresh recruitments against the posts held by them and demanded early regularization of all those appointed a decade back. In case the genuine demand of the employees is not met, the Union would be forced to intensify its stir for which the entire responsibility would lie on the government, the handout claimed.
