Addressing the media person here today, Sunil Kumar University President JSM, said that senior professors were calling the shots as they had been holding more than one prized position since long, notwithstanding it was poorly upsetting the normal functioning of the varsity. He also said that Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta has been occupying four key positions in the university. "He has been given the important charge of Director of Directorate Distance Education (DDE), Director, Colleges Development Council and both the departments are equal to University. He is also a member of the University Syndicate and Dean Management. Sunil further said Dr Manoj K Dhar has been holding the post of Controller of Examination and also holding the charge of Director, School of Biotechnology, which comprises three wings, bio-chemistry, microbiology and bio-technology. He added that another senior professor, Jasbir Singh has been given the charge of Provost Boys Hostel, besides the key posts of Chairman Campus Culture Committee, Chairman NSS, and Head of the Economics Department. He said that Prof Kulwant Singh has been given the charge of Director, Law School, HoD Law Deptt and Dean Law while Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, who was simply appointed as Coordinator, is at present holding the position of Director Reasi Campus, and Coordinator, all campuses. "We fail to understand that how a person occupying more than one post delivers justice with the administration as well as the students," Kumar said while questioning the rationale behind such move. We appeal the Chancellor of University to take cognizance of it and initiate measures to streamline the functioning. |
