Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 26: Expressing dismay over the deteriorating condition of roads, PDP President Mahbooba Mufti said that inefficiency and corruption rampant in the R&B department is responsible for the present pathetic state of roads in the state.
Mufti during her visit to various villages of Wachi constituency was highlighted the indifference of the state government towards the problems of the people. She said though the working season in the valley is almost nearing its end not a single stone has been lifted since the darbar move from Jammu to Srinagar. She was accompanied by District General secretary Shopian, Ghulam Mohiudin Wani.
She added that be it the main roads like Sheikhpora -Imam Sahib, Trenz -Turkawangam, Vehil- Nihama or interior roads like Dangam -Ratnipora , Hermain- Kumdalan- Nild-oora or Adijan-Kanjiullar or any other road for that matter the present government has done hardly any thing for the upgradation of these roads during the last almost four years of their tenure.Even the roads approved under NABARD and the one's tendered , the work has not been started for reasons best known to the government.
Reffering to the CAG indictment of the state government for flouting norms in the R&B sector causing losses of hundreds of crores besides having failed to implement and execute the developmental projects in the state, Mahbooba Mufti said that these revelations did not come as a surprise to her.
She said subverting procedures, not inviting tenders and pressurizing various agencies and their heads for diverting funds in order to please blue eyed contractors has been the norm of NC regime all through their rule of many decades.
She said that inefficiency and corruption in the core departments like R&B, Power and education which are headed by the Chief Minister have touched new heights during the present regime.
Mufti further added that people of various areas are still deprived of the basic amenities like better roads, clean drinking water and power etc.
People of these villages made various demands like providing wells for water supply, transformers, establishment of J&K Bank branches in various villages. Ms Mufti assured that she will take up these matters with the concerned authorities and announced Rs 25 lakh out of her Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for various developmental works in these villages.
